Chapter 90
"No, what could I possibly be hiding from you? You're overthinking it." Isabella adamantly denied it.
Olivia raised an eyebrow but didn't press the issue. Instead, she waved the tickets in her hand. "Let's go, it's time to check in. We can talk inside."
'Could the traces Isabella doesn't want me to see be related to Michael? No wonder she left so early that day,' Olivia thought to herself.
Before entering the venue, Isabella noticed that Olivia seemed different. Usually, when Olivia went out, she wore heavy makeup, following her own whims.
But tonight, Olivia looked like she was rushing to an event, with her makeup meticulously done and her outfit matching her public persona in the entertainment industry.
But it was just a late-night movie, no need to be so formal.
"Olivia, is someone special coming tonight?" Isabella looked at her in confusion, thinking tonight's movie was just Olivia's way of killing time.
But Olivia replied casually, "No, I'm just here to support my favorite star's box office. Plus, I know the male lead, he's super handsome, so I brought you along to enjoy it."
"If it's to support him, why not just book the whole theater?"
Olivia was the heiressof the Smith Family, and Isabella was the biggest shareholder of both the Wilson Group and the Brown Group. Why squeeze into a late-night movie with just two tickets?
"That's different. If I booked the whole theater, I wouldn't run into that person!"
Isabella was taken aback. "Who?"
Olivia leaned in. "I had someone find out that the investor behind this movie will be here with friends for this late-night movie . You know I've always wanted to try my hand in the movie industry, but good resources are scarce. I have to seize the opportunity."
"Now you know why I dragged you here at this time?" Olivia raised her eyebrows with a meaningful expression.
Isabella understood. Olivia had always been interested in acting, but good resources required more than just money; they needed connections.
"You should have told me earlier. I wouldn't have dressed like this. I would have worn something decent to not embarrass you," Isabella said.
She almost covered herself up completely when she came. It was easy for her to be seen as an oddball.
"Well, Isabella, you look good in anything. Tonight, just think of it as keeping me company. Don't overthink it."
Once inside, Olivia pulled her to their seats.
The lights dimmed shortly after, and the big screen started to flicker.
But in the vast space, it was just the two of them.
Isabella was a bit surprised and asked Olivia, "That person you mentioned isn't coming, right? The movie's started, and no one else has come in."
Olivia wasn't too sure either. After all, the information was bought, but since they were already there, they could only sit tight. "They'll come. I paid for this info; it can't be wrong."
Just as she finished speaking, a group of people entered from the doorway, too dark to see clearly.
But the lead figure was distinguishable, with a perfect build and proportions.
"They're here, that's the person." Olivia's excited voice came from beside her, making Isabella's heart skip a beat.
The investor Olivia mentioned looked a lot like Michael.
Their seats were in the front, and once they sat down, nothing could be seen.
Isabella instinctively shook off the thought that had just popped into her head, thinking she was just too scared of Michael.
Everywhere she went, she felt like Michael was around.
Olivia noticed Isabella staring at the front row and remembered the "traces" she saw outside.
Taking advantage of Isabella's distraction, she asked, "Isabella, where did you go that night at the club? You left me there without a call. Did something happen to you?"
Just as she managed to suppress her guess about Michael , Olivia brought up the club incident.
Hearing that, Isabella almost choked.
If it weren't for that night, would she have ended up sleeping with Michael? And now, they were entangled in a complicated relationship.
She swore she'd find Bianca, the culprit, and punish her severely.
"No, nothing happened," Isabella replied.
"Really?" Olivia pressed on, as if she wouldn't give up until she got an answer.
Isabella was extremely nervous, but the movie's opening saved her. "Aren't you here to watch the movie? Stop talking."
Olivia finally let her go and turned her attention to the screen.
But Isabella had lost interest in the movie.
She couldn't have been mistaken earlier, wondering it was so ridiculous to run into Michael at a movie.
After a while, feeling restless, Isabella got up to go to the restroom.
In the meantime, many couples had arrived. Isabella had to bend over to walk out.
When she reached the front row, she deliberately slowed down. In the light from the big screen, Michael's flawless features appeared before her.
Realizing it was really Michael, Isabella's heart skipped a beat.
Did Michael put a tracker on her, or was she just that unlucky, running into him everywhere?
She had only enjoyed a few days of peace since leaving the Brown Family. So she couldn't let him find her.
Thinking of Olivia waiting for her, Isabella swallowed hard, trying not to make herself too noticeable, and pulled her hat down as she went outside.
Just as she left, someone sat next to Olivia.
The man was dressed in trendy clothes, with light makeup, exuding sophistication from head to toe. But on his ruggedly handsome face, it looked out of place.
He curiously asked Olivia, "Who was that with you just now? I haven't seen her before."
It was a not-so-popular star, Tyrell Baldwin, a friend from her circle, who had some talent but lacked luck.
His face didn't fit the current mainstream aesthetic, and his style wasn't eye-catching enough to attract young girls. Over time, with no exposure, his agent gave up on him.
Recently, Tyrell had joined a few productions on his own, but none had made a significant impact.
Olivia raised her chin. "She's my personal designer, my best friend. Many of the outfits I wore in my debut photos were designed by her."
"Really?" Hearing she was Olivia's personal designer, Tyrell's eyes lit up.
Every artist knew how important a beloved look was. Once they had a signature style, they could ride that wave of popularity.
And Olivia had risen to fame on that wave. In just two short years, she had made significant strides in the entertainment industry.
