Chapter 321
"They want to kill to keep things quiet."
Renee didn't specify who "they" were in front of the others but made it clear why they were here.
They were here to eliminate her.
"Is it because of the tip you gave me that day? Only something personal of yours would have made Aaron discover the problem. And that's why you're in danger now."
"Ms. Taylor, how did you know?" Renee was stunned, her eyes wide with shock as she looked at Isabella.
She had never disclosed this to anyone, including her relationship with Aaron.
Isabella explained, "Don't worry, I won't tell anyone. I just remembered Aaron's expression when he saw the handkerchief you gave me that day. Hearing what you said, I put two and two together."
"Besides, I really just happened to be there to save you. I have no other intentions and won't force you to do anything you don't want to. So just focus on getting better, and we'll talk about everything else once you're well."
Isabella knew Renee had many concerns, especially with Atticus still around. It was normal for her to be cautious.
There was plenty of time; no need to rush.
And Isabella didn't like forcing others.
Renee had risked her life to pass on the message, and Isabella had coincidentally saved her outside the mall.
Maybe it was fate.
They both survived.
If Renee didn't want to talk about the people behind this, Isabella wouldn't push. She'd just consider it as gaining a new friend.
"Ms. Taylor, no matter what, I still have to thank you for saving me."
Renee took a deep breath. Even though her face was pale, the determination in her eyes was unmistakable.
She didn't want to die.
She had family waiting for her to save them.
Seeing her weak state, Isabella didn't want to tire her out. Just as she was about to leave, she remembered something Michael had mentioned on the phone.
She paused, "Ms. Faith, there's something I need to confirm with you."
"Ms. Taylor, please go ahead."
"Have you and Aaron confirmed your relationship?" Isabella asked hesitantly, but the curiosity in her eyes betrayed her.
After all, their personalities and positions were so distinct.
If they were in a relationship, it would be quite sweet.
Isabella was already imagining a dramatic love story in her mind.
But Renee's next words shattered her imagination, "Ms. Taylor, you're overthinking. Aaron and I have no relationship; we've just met a few times."
Renee's voice was still hoarse, but the detachment in her tone was clear.
She had realized that surviving her current situation was hard enough. There was no need to drag someone else into it.
Isabella's eyes flickered. It was Renee's personal matter, and she had no right to interfere.
However, she still had to convey the message.
"Renee, Aaron has been sent abroad recently and can't come back immediately. He knows you're in the hospital and is quite worried, so he asked Michael to check on you. It's up to you whether you want to see him."
"If you agree, I'll let him come. If not, don't worry about it. Just focus on recovering."
Isabella tried to relay the message accurately, leaving the choice to Renee.
Hearing that Aaron wasn't in the country, Renee's eyes flickered.
But when she looked at her broken right leg, her eyes lowered.
In her current state, with people still out to kill her, she couldn't involve an innocent person.
Moreover, she hadn't forgotten the despair of that unanswered phone call during her life-and-death moment.
Aaron wasn't in the country, so meeting Michael was meaningless.
Renee shook her head, "Ms. Taylor, besides you and the Wilson Family, I don't want to see anyone else!"
Right now, the only person she could trust was Isabella.
She couldn't risk trusting anyone else.
Renee's words were a clear refusal to see Michael. Isabella didn't push her, just nodded, "Alright, I'll let him know."
She hadn't wanted Michael to see Renee alone anyway.
Who knew if he was really there for Aaron or for his own reasons?
After all, his feelings for Bianca weren't new.
After saying this, Isabella was about to leave when Renee grabbed her, "Ms. Taylor, I have a favor to ask. Can you take me in? I'm afraid those people will come after me again."
The Adri Family was ruthless, caring only about results, not the process.
Anyone who tried to escape their grasp never survived.
Their assassin organization was built on countless deaths. Renee was lucky to have survived this time.
But that didn't mean she'd be lucky every time.
Those people wouldn't let her go.
To survive, she needed a powerful family to protect her.
And the Wilson Family was the best choice.
She also trusted Isabella.
Hearing this, Isabella was stunned, and even Atticus frowned deeply.
He shook his head at Isabella.
Renee's identity was clear. She was from the mysterious family that wanted to harm Isabella.
Keeping her close was like having a ticking time bomb nearby.
But Isabella wasn't thinking about that.
She was staying with the Wilson Family temporarily, so taking someone in wasn't a problem. But Renee's injuries were severe.
If she took Renee back and her condition worsened, what then?
"Renee, are you sure? I can agree to your request, but your health..." Isabella bit her lip, still worried.
"I'm fine. These injuries aren't serious. I've been through worse abroad. I just need a place to hide and recover."
"I know you'll have people guarding me in the hospital, but it's a public place. Those people are skilled and will find me soon."
Instead of waiting to die in the hospital, she needed to find new protection.
It was selfish, but she had no other choice to survive.
She would remember Isabella's kindness forever.
Isabella nodded and said, "If you're sure, I'll get the discharge papers."
"Isabella?" Atticus couldn't believe Isabella was taking Renee, whose loyalty was uncertain, home.
"Uncle Atticus, look at Renee. Do you really think she has the energy to harm anyone?"
Isabella pointed to the bedridden Renee, unable to move, and winked at Atticus.
