Chapter 476

Aaron's test results came back quickly.

Even though the bullet had hit his chest, it luckily missed his heart. The bleeding was from a ruptured blood vessel.

He just needed to rest and let his body heal over time.

The main thing was that he had to avoid any physical activity.

But that was exactly what was giving Aaron a headache.

Given the current situation, how could he possibly rest? Michael had been framed and lost everything, and Aaron was out of a job too.

This was the perfect opportunity for him to help Michael make a comeback.

He considered himself career-focused; how could he lie in a hospital bed at such a critical moment?

Michael had been busting his ass since taking over the company, determined to take it to the next level. Now Nolan was taking all the credit. It wasn't just a slap in the face to Michael-even Aaron, his assistant, thought it was total BS.

But Aaron's condition was really bad.

Even if he wanted to leave the hospital, Renee wouldn't allow it. She was keeping a close eye on him.

They had barely escaped with their lives from abroad; he couldn't bear to upset his wife again.

After much thought, he realized the responsibility of helping Michael had to fall to someone else.

He didn't trust outsiders.

Only Isabella could handle it.

With that in mind, he decided it was the best plan for now.

A short while later, Isabella, Renee, and Olivia came to visit Aaron in the hospital.

Renee immediately sat by Aaron's side, grabbing his hand and immediately asking about his injuries.

Isabella and Olivia stood behind, unable to get a word in, just watching them like a couple in the throes of young love.

Once they got affectionate, they completely ignored everyone else.

After a while, Olivia couldn't help but nudge Isabella and ask, "I'm starting to feel like we're just third wheels here."

Isabella bit back a smile, trying not to laugh out loud.

Third wheels or not, they couldn't exactly just turn around and walk out, could they?

After all, they'd come to visit a patient, and his comfort was the priority.

Aaron noticed and awkwardly patted Renee's hand, took the fruit she had brought, and nodded at Isabella and Olivia.

"Mrs. Brown, Ms. Smith, I'm fine now. Sorry to trouble you both."

Olivia clicked her tongue, "Don't be modest. Renee told us all about your heroics. You have no idea how scared she was when you got shot. She was terrified you weren't going to make it."

Renee's face turned red.

"Olivia, I never said that. Don't put words in my mouth."

Olivia wouldn't back down, "You didn't have to say it-it was written all over your face. I'm not making anything up."

"You..."

Renee didn't want to show too much temper in front of Aaron, so she just glared at Olivia.

But her glare lacked any real menace, only showing her embarrassment.

Isabella shook her head. Olivia and Renee always seemed to clash.

They argued when they met but missed each other when apart.

"Alright, Aaron needs to rest. We just came to check on you. Now that we've seen you're okay, we won't disturb you any longer."

Isabella was about to pull Olivia away when Aaron called out from the bed.

"Wait, Mrs. Brown."

"Is there something else?"

Isabella turned back.

Aaron thought of his plan and pressed his pale lips together.

"Mrs. Brown, does the agreement we discussed last time still stand?"

He would tell her the truth, and she would check on Michael and help him regain his confidence.

"Of course, it stands. I keep my word."

Isabella hadn't forgotten their phone conversation.

Since she had learned the truth from Aaron, it was time to fulfill her promise.

But there was one thing she didn't know how to tell Aaron, fearing it might upset him and hinder his recovery.

Michael was no longer the CEO of the Brown Group. Nolan couldn't target him at this point.

"But you just had surgery. It's better to wait until you're better to discuss this. As for Michael, you don't need to worry. He's been enjoying himself more than anyone."

Because of the last incident, Isabella was afraid Michael would lock himself away and drink.

So she had someone secretly watching over him.

This also meant she knew his schedule. She thought he would try to return to the company and reclaim his rights.

But to her surprise, Michael had been doing nothing but partying since Nolan kicked him out.

He was living it up, carefree.

She shouldn't have believed Aaron's talk about Michael being depressed and unable to move on.

It seemed like she was the one struggling, while Michael wasn't affected at all.

She had almost lost sleep worrying about him.

Thinking about it, her concern seemed unnecessary.

"Mr. Brown must be waiting for the right moment. From the start, he knew what to do. He withdrew from the company, watched the situation, and waited for the enemies and traitors to turn on each other before making his move. If I hadn't been in this accident, I would be with Mr. Brown now, helping him reclaim his position."

Isabella was stunned.

If she didn't know Michael, she would have thought Aaron was talking about someone else.

No wonder Michael treated Aaron like a brother; Aaron admired him deeply.

"Mrs. Brown, I came back with something very important to tell you and Mr. Brown. It's about the real reason behind the Brown Group's recent troubles."

Isabella frowned, "Go on."

Aaron glanced at the people in the room.

One was his wife, one was his boss's ex-wife, and one was Isabella's good friend.

He trusted all three.

So he had no reason to hide this secret from them.

"Mrs. Brown, I suspect there's a mole from the Adri Family inside the Brown Group, and I believe that person is Nolan."
