Chapter 204
"Impossible?" Violet muttered softly, and then she heard the sound of the phone being hung up.
She realized it belatedly.
If it was impossible between Michael and Isabella, then her chance had come!
No wonder Michael confessed to her just now and said those things. It turned out he had really figured it out and realized who he truly liked.
Even though Isabella was the young lady of the Wilson Family, she still lost to her.
Three days later, inside the villa at Whispering Pines Estates.
Isabella lay on the swing on the balcony with her eyes closed, enjoying a peaceful afternoon without any disturbances.
But as soon as she closed her eyes, she couldn't help but picture a handsome and innocent face.
Michael again.
Isabella sat up abruptly and took a deep breath.
Isabella, oh Isabella, how useless could you be?
You already decided to let go, so why did you still think of that bad man Michael from time to time?
Her mood suddenly turned sour, and Isabella couldn't enjoy it anymore. She went inside to find the maid to make her something to eat.
She had consulted a doctor, and she was in the critical first three months.
She needed to rest and couldn't handle any stress.
And she valued this child very much.
So she handed over all the company matters to Emilio and hired a nanny to take care of her daily needs.
Cinda Greer was a maid she personally selected, a forty-year-old with a gentle temperament and good cooking skills. Most importantly, she had experience taking care of pregnant women.
Isabella took a liking to her at first sight.
And it turned out her judgment was right; she got along very well with Cinda.
When it was just the two of them, Isabella would call her Cinda.
Since it was still early for dinner, Cinda cut some fresh fruit for Isabella to eat first.
Isabella had just taken a bite when there was a knock on the door.
Cinda, being closer to the kitchen, went to answer it.
When she opened the door and saw Nolan in a wheelchair, Cinda was momentarily stunned. "May I ask who you are?"
Nolan smiled warmly and introduced himself, "I'm Isabella's friend."
Not an elder of Isabella, but a friend.
Cinda suddenly realized, "You must be Mr. Brown. Ms. Taylor mentioned you. Sorry, I didn't recognize you. Please come in!"
Seeing Nolan pushing his wheelchair by himself, Cinda instinctively wanted to help. "Do you need me to push you in?"
"No need, I can manage."
Nolan politely shook his head and easily wheeled himself inside.
Cinda followed behind and told Isabella, who was on the sofa, "Ms. Taylor, your good friend Mr. Brown is here."
From a distance, Isabella saw Nolan in the wheelchair and excitedly got up, walking over in her slippers.
She walked so fast that she almost bumped into Nolan's wheelchair.
Nolan, startled and helpless, reached out to steady her briefly before quickly withdrawing his hand.
"You're about to be a mother, and you're still so reckless. What if you hurt your belly?"
Isabella, having slipped just now, felt a bit embarrassed by Nolan's words.
She quickly stood up straight and half-jokingly said, "I was just excited to see you, Nolan. By the way, why did you come suddenly? Don't you have classes this afternoon?"
She had called him in the morning when Nolan had just finished a class, and she had told him about Michael and the child.
She hadn't left the house for days and was feeling quite bored.
After thinking it over, she realized Nolan was the only one she could vent to.
She didn't expect Nolan to act so quickly and come over.
Fortunately, she had informed the security in advance, or Nolan would have been stopped outside.
Nolan just smiled and didn't explain much. "I don't have classes this afternoon. I was worried you'd be bored alone, so I came over."
In fact, his schedule was full today, but what Isabella said on the phone had unsettled him, so he took a leave and came from the school.
Isabella, unaware, thought she was lucky. "Really? Then you can chat with me today, Nolan."
Cinda brought over some tea, but placed a cup of spring water in front of Isabella.
Pregnant women shouldn't drink strong tea, and Cinda always thought of these little details for Isabella.
Nolan nodded politely, and after Cinda left, he took a deep breath and asked,
"Isabella, is what you said on the phone true? You and Michael are impossible to be together?"
Although the news of their divorce had spread, he was still shocked when it came to this point.
After all, Isabella's love for Michael was something even he couldn't doubt.
Isabella nonchalantly replied, "Of course it's true. I wouldn't joke about this with you, Nolan. It's over between us."
Then she picked up a strawberry, took a small bite, found it delicious, and handed him a big one. "Nolan, have a strawberry. It's not sour, very sweet."
Nolan smiled and took it, watching Isabella continue eating the one she had bitten. He couldn't help but wonder.
If it was Michael sitting in front of her, would she give him a new one or the one she had bitten?
Isabella tried to change the subject, but Nolan didn't follow. He looked at her intently.
"Isabella, you haven't told me the reason for your divorce."
Isabella could see his dissatisfaction and seriousness and said helplessly,
"Nolan, what's wrong with you? You used to advise me to let go of this relationship. Now that I have, you're unhappy?"
Many times, even she found it unbelievable. Nolan and Michael had faces that were seventy to eighty percent similar.
But she never saw a trace of Michael in Nolan.
Not even their backs could be mistaken.
Their differences were evident from their very core.
"Before, I advised you to let go because I didn't want you trapped in a loveless marriage. But now, you have a child. The future is complicated. You are not just yourself now; you have a child. The decisions you make can't be impulsive." Nolan advised earnestly.
But Isabella didn't think she was impulsive. On the contrary, this was her calmest decision.
She didn't even have a fight with Michael.
"Nolan, this child is mine. It has nothing to do with the Brown Family or Michael. So, there's nothing complicated between Michael and me. Or do you think the Wilson Family can't afford to raise a child?"
At this point, she seemed a bit angry.
She had always considered Nolan her most trusted person.
But she didn't expect him to persuade her to reconsider her relationship with Michael for the sake of the child.
Didn't he think about how much she had suffered? Did having a child mean she had to give up her entire life?
Nolan's thoughts made her angry.
