Chapter 140

At this point, the Wilsons' sons had no reason to stay, so they alked out of the office.

Just as they were about to leave, Thomas noticed Isabella still standing there, not intending to follow them. He went over and grabbed her hand angrily. "Isabella, you are not allowed to stay here. Come with us. I'll arrange the best men for you to meet, whether they're from home or abroad, young or mature and charming. As long as you like them, I'll arrange it all."

"I don't believe that with the Wilson family's power and influence, we can't find a man better than Michael?" Thomas got furious just mentioning Michael.

Michael had fought all five of them, but as soon as Isabella arrived, he acted all pitiful. With such acting talent, why didn't he go work in Hollywood?

Isabella sighed, "Fine."

She knew her uncles' personalities well. If she didn't agree, they might come back immediately.

Thinking she still had feelings for Michael, they might not be able to resist beating him up again.

Hearing her agree, Holden, who was walking ahead, was also delighted. He came back, took her hand, and continued to persuade her as they walked. "Isabella, tell me, what type do you like? Do you have any requirements for body type or appearance? Or maybe you like someone knowledgeable. I think some people are just too ignorant, which makes them arrogant and cold-blooded, so no one likes them." Holden was clearly mocking Michael.

The group left quickly, and soon the office was empty.

Michael glanced at his wounds, saw no bleeding, and sat back at his desk.

He picked up the document he had been reading and resumed his work, as if nothing had happened.

But only Michael knew that a certain part of his body hurt terribly, a tearing pain, and even his wounds felt uncomfortable.

But whenever he thought of Isabella agreeing to the blind date so readily, he couldn't help but smile bitterly.

No matter how much his heart hurt, no one would feel sorry for him.

Until evening, Isabella felt increasingly uneasy.

She had clearly seen Michael's face at the time. Although he acted normal, the pain from his wounds couldn't be faked. Plus, with all her five uncles attacking him, if his wounds reopened...

Thinking of this, Isabella was worried and called Michael.

But it kept going unanswered, she became even more anxious.

Taking a deep breath, Isabella calmed herself down and called Aaron, who had called her earlier in the day.

Fortunately, Aaron answered quickly, "Mrs. Brown, is there something you need?"

Isabella was momentarily speechless, unsure how to ask about Michael.

She could only hint. "Are you with Michael? I need to talk to him, but I can't reach him."

Aaron paused and checked the time; it was 8 PM.

He couldn't believe thatIsabella was actively looking for Michael at this hour.

It seemed their relationship was indeed improving, so Michael maybe wouldn't be so stern with them anymore.

"Mrs. Brown, Mr. Brown is still at the office. He might have left his phone aside and didn't hear it. But he hasn't had dinner yet, and I was just about to get him something. Would you like to come over?" Aaron asked cautiously, afraid of scaring Isabella away.

Isabella frowned and thought to herself, 'It is so late, and Michael is still working? Is he out of mind.'

"How's his injury... is it better?" Isabella asked hesitantly. Given their current relationship, she couldn't show too much concern.

But Michael's injury was because of her, and her uncles' visit today was also related to her. Logically, she should show some concern.

Little did she know, her question reminded Aaron.

Michael's injury was caused by Isabella's uncles. If Isabella felt sorry for Michael, they might have a chance to reconcile.

"Mrs. Brown, to be honest, Mr. Brown looks terrible. You know he promised to watch over Harper last night and didn't sleep much. Then he got beaten up today. But Mr. Brown insisted on working instead of going to the hospital. He just took some painkillers and continued working. It's this late, and he still won't rest." Aaron deliberately made Michael sound pitiful, avoiding the details of his injury.

He only mentioned how Michael was wronged and endured it for Isabella.

Isabella originally just wanted to check on Michael. Hearing that he was working despite his injury and still at the office this late, she panicked and ignored the flaws in Aaron's words. "Is he crazy? He's so injured and won't go to the hospital. Does he want to die from the pain? Aaron, as his assistant, why didn't you remind him?"

Aaron pretended to be troubled, "Mrs. Brown, I did, but Mr. Brown wouldn't listen. He only listens to you."

After all, everyone could see that Michael didn't want to divorce Isabella.

"Mrs. Brown, why don't you come and persuade Mr. Brown? As his assistant, I can't stand it anymore. You've seen his injury. If it causes complications, it could be fatal. Besides, you're in the middle of a divorce. If something happens to Mr. Brown now, not to mention the public opinion, you wouldn't feel right either." Aaron's persuasion finally swayed Isabella.

That was right, Michael could have an accident, but not when they were about to finalize their divorce.

She wasn't obligated to take responsibility for him, nor would she be forced to face public scrutiny.

Ending the call, Isabella drove straight to the Brown Group.

Aaron bought some light snacks and placed them in front of Michael, not in a hurry to leave. He pursed his lips, looking like he had something to say.

Michael hadn't eaten all afternoon and was starving.

Seeing Aaron's reaction, he frowned. "Do you have something to say?"

Aaron didn't know how to explain that Isabella was coming, thinking it would ruin the surprise if he told Michael now. But if he didn't say anything, what excuse could he use to leave?

After all, Michael wanted to see Isabella, and it wouldn't be appropriate for him to stay.

When Michael questioned him, he nodded without hesitation. "Mr. Brown, can I leave early tonight?"

Michael paused and looked at Aaron suspiciously, whose behavior was like being urged by a girlfriend to ask for time off.

Realizing this, Michael found it normal.

After all, Aaron had worked for him for several years and was at the age to date.

"In such a hurry?" Seeing Aaron checking the time, Michael raised an eyebrow and asked.
