Chapter 322

Atticus couldn't stop her, so he had no choice but to go with her to the doctor's office.

When the doctor said Renee would need at least three months to recover, she finally felt relieved.

Plus, with the Wilson family keeping an eye on things, even if Renee wanted to harm Isabella, she probably wouldn't get the chance.

In the end, Atticus reluctantly agreed.

But he had one condition: Renee's caregivers had to be people he trusted.

In other words, Renee could only stay with the Wilson family under his supervision.

Isabella had no objections to this. She knew Atticus was worried that she had bad intentions, and after spending some time together, he would see Renee's true character and let his guard down.

There was no point in saying more now.

So, Isabella had the doctor issue a discharge certificate and arranged for bodyguards to escort Renee to the hospital's designated vehicle.

Meanwhile, the Wilson family had Cinda and the house staff prepare a guest room suitable for Renee, preferably on the first floor.

When the group finally arrived back at the Wilson family home, Daniel was taken aback by the commotion.

He had received a call from Isabella earlier, saying she was bringing a friend over, but she hadn't mentioned it would be such a big deal.

Why were there doctors and nurses coming along?

"Isabella, come here!"

Feeling uneasy, Daniel instinctively pulled Isabella aside, worried that the hustle and bustle might affect her and the baby.

Isabella was busy directing the staff when Daniel's look called her over. "Grandpa, what's wrong?"

"Isabella, you told me on the phone that a friend was coming to stay, but you didn't mention she was this seriously injured. If it were any other time, it might be fine, but you're pregnant now. What if something happens..."

Daniel wasn't being stingy; he was just concerned about Isabella's health. She needed to take care of herself, especially now.

Bringing a patient home suddenly could expose her to bacteria, which wasn't safe.

"Grandpa, you misunderstood. She wasn't sick; she was in a car accident."

Daniel's worry deepened. "That makes it even worse. She should be in the hospital, getting the best care. I'll cover her medical expenses. Why bring her home where we don't have the right equipment?"

Daniel quickly saw the problem. He might be old, but he wasn't foolish.

"Grandpa, I have my reasons."

"What reasons? Tell me!" Daniel was clearly displeased.

Isabella felt helpless.

She couldn't possibly tell Daniel that Renee's situation at the hospital was too dangerous, and she had to bring her home to keep her safe from those who might come after her.

Daniel was already worried about her and the baby's safety. If he heard about the danger Renee was in, he would never agree.

"Grandpa, actually, she's Aaron's girlfriend. He is Michael's assistant. You might have met him."

Daniel thought for a moment and nodded slightly. "Yes, I remember Aaron. A nice young man, very polite."

But that didn't mean he was okay with a patient moving in.

"His girlfriend has nothing to do with our family. Even if he's close to you, he can't just push his girlfriend onto you. Where is he?"

Seeing that Daniel was finally asking the right questions, Isabella quickly helped him sit down and explained.

"I was just about to tell you. Aaron's on a business trip abroad and can't come back soon. Renee had a car accident, and to let Aaron focus on his work, Michael asked me to take care of her for a few days. Once Aaron returns, he'll take her back."

Isabella quickly came up with a reason.

Renee's situation was delicate, and only by linking her to Aaron would Daniel not suspect anything.

"Besides, her parents aren't in Evergreen City, and she doesn't have many friends. If we leave her in the hospital alone, how can I explain it to Aaron when he returns?"

"I see. In that case, we can't just leave Renee alone in the hospital. And since Aaron works for Michael, we should help out. We can't neglect Renee."

Daniel finally understood Isabella's reasoning.

"Grandpa, you're the best. I knew you'd agree because you're so generous."

Isabella praised Daniel, holding his hand.

Daniel was pleased but still pretended to be stern. "But just this once. Next time, you need to tell me everything first, understand?"

"Got it, Grandpa." Isabella agreed readily. "I promise, just this once."

She already felt guilty about the situation and didn't dare to negotiate further with Daniel.

The following week at the Wilson family home was unusually quiet for Isabella.

She found it quite boring to be cooped up at home all day.

Atticus and Holden were busy and rarely around, leaving the large Wilson family home to just her, Daniel, and Renee.

But Daniel needed to rest and recover, sticking to a strict schedule, and Renee was confined to a wheelchair or resting indoors.

As for Isabella, being pregnant meant she spent most of her time eating and sleeping, and she noticed her waistline expanding.

She wanted to walk around the garden and do some light exercise, but Daniel stopped her immediately.

He said her movements were too exaggerated and could harm the baby.

Isabella looked at the yoga mat under her feet and sighed.

No matter how many times she explained to Daniel that it was just basic exercise, he saw it as her risking the baby's safety.

She wasn't jumping around, just moving a bit. She couldn't believe the baby was that fragile.

But seeing Daniel's serious expression, she gave in.

Daniel was still recovering, and she didn't want to upset him.

If she couldn't exercise, so be it.

She decided to visit Renee for a chat.

Knocking on the door, she found Renee sitting on the bed, looking out at the sun with a calm expression.

"Renee, you've been lying down for days. Don't you feel uncomfortable? How about I have someone take you outside for a walk?"

Isabella knew how boring it was to be stuck at home, so she figured Renee must be going stir-crazy.

Renee must be on the verge of breaking down.

"No, the doctor said I should avoid moving around too much and rest."

Renee smiled gently and patted the chair by the bed, inviting Isabella to sit.

"Ms. Taylor, are you bored? Why not sit here and chat? I can't go out, but I'm grateful you visit me every day."

After a few days of rest, Renee's external injuries had mostly healed. Only her head and right leg still needed time to recover.

She occasionally went out in a wheelchair when the weather was nice, but most of her time was spent indoors.
