Chapter 482
One was his girlfriend, the other was his boss.
Aaron was breaking out in a cold sweat.
Instinctively, he grabbed Renee's hand, trying to mediate the situation.
"Renee, Mr. Brown isn't who you think he is. He knows he messed up, and we should give him a chance, right? Besides, Mrs. Brown still has feelings for him. You know that. Don't you want them to clear up their misunderstandings and get back together? Renee, trust me this once, Mr. Brown really isn't..."
"Shut up! Aaron, I'll deal with you later."
Renee couldn't stand Aaron's incessant chatter any longer. She shot him a cold glare, and he immediately clamped his mouth shut, not daring to make another sound.
Michael was stunned.
He had never realized that the esteemed assistant of the Brown Group could be so whipped.
Being this thoroughly under his girlfriend's thumb was impressive.
With Aaron finally quiet, Renee turned her attention to Michael.
As long as she was around, she wouldn't let anyone hurt Isabella again.
"Mr. Brown, I understand what you said. If Isabella agrees to let you stay, I have no right to interfere. But if you're just using the excuse of being 'homeless' to get close to Isabella again, don't blame me for being harsh, even if you're Aaron's boss."
Though she addressed him as "Mr. Brown," there was no respect in her tone.
She didn't care that Michael was the heir to the Brown Family.
To her, he was just a man who had hurt her best friend. If it weren't for Aaron's three years of loyalty, she would have kicked him out already.
Michael couldn't even muster a rebuttal.
He could only press his lips together in silence, barely holding onto the last shred of his dignity as a man.
Meanwhile, in another room, Isabella and Olivia listened to the argument next door and exchanged amused glances.
It was the first time Isabella had seen Michael so humbled.
It was satisfying.
Olivia, seeing Isabella's smug smile, didn't forget what Renee had said earlier.
"Isabella, you heard it all. Michael is a schemer. He's the young master of the Brown Family. Even if he's kicked out of the company, he won't be homeless. Don't let your guard down and forgive him. And definitely don't bring him back to the Wilson Villa. Got it?"
Olivia couldn't help but remind her again.
Just thinking about the suffering Isabella had endured made Olivia want to string Michael up.
If he managed to worm his way into the Wilson Family, he'd turn the place upside down.
Not to mention, the five Wilson brothers wouldn't let him off easily.
Isabella nodded. "Got it. Don't worry, I won't."
She wasn't crazy. Who would bring an ex-husband home?
Especially someone like Michael, whom she wanted to avoid at all costs.
"But I really want to see Michael's face right now. It must be priceless!"
Renee's scolding was so satisfying, and Michael didn't dare say a word in return.
She couldn't do that.
They had parted ways amicably, and their families still had business dealings. It wouldn't be good to make things too ugly.
She was glad she stayed today; otherwise, she would have missed this entertaining scene.
Meanwhile, in Aaron's ward, a sudden exclamation broke the silence.
"Mr. Brown, something terrible has happened at the company!"
Michael was still thinking about how to convince Isabella to let him stay at the Wilson Villa to ease their awkward relationship.
Aaron's shout snapped him back to reality.
"What happened?"
Without wasting time, Aaron handed his phone to Michael, showing him the news.
The latest report was playing.
"Just now, Leanne Corporation released a statement online, using the company's reputation to publicly accuse the Brown Group's medical products of serious quality issues. They said they signed the contract and took a huge loss to warn others not to be deceived by the false advertising of big corporations and not to risk people's health and lives."
Hearing this, Michael couldn't take it anymore and paused the interview on the computer.
The timing of this news was too coincidental.
It was clearly premeditated.
Michael didn't need to think hard to guess who was behind it.
The Adri Family was clearly pushing their advantage, striking as soon as the Brown Group showed weakness.
Michael didn't have time to ponder. He immediately called Nolan.
As soon as the call connected, he started yelling.
"Nolan, how are you planning to handle the news from Leanne Corporation? Don't forget, Grandpa entrusted the company to you. If you ruin its reputation in a few days, how will you explain it to him?"
Michael did this on purpose.
He had signed the contract with Leanne Corporation, so he knew there were no issues. But since the Adri Family was causing trouble, he needed to solidify his image as the former president.
With the company in trouble, he had the right to question Nolan, the current president.
On the other end, Nolan's voice remained calm and composed. "How I explain it to Grandpa is none of your concern. My goal has been achieved. The company's fate doesn't matter to me."
His calm words left Michael almost speechless with shock.
"Nolan, do you know what you're saying? What do you mean the company's fate doesn't matter to you? Why did you fight so hard to take over the company then?"
Michael was incredulous.
But the next second, Nolan's voice turned cold and mocking.
"I fought for the heir's position to erase the shame of three years ago. Michael, to be honest, ever since Grandpa kicked me out of the Brown Group three years ago, I stopped caring about this family, including the Brown Group. So, even if the Brown Group collapses, I couldn't care less."
With that, Nolan hung up, not giving Michael a chance to respond.
Meanwhile, in his office, Nolan tossed his phone aside and turned his serious gaze to his assistant, Alex.
"What's going on with Leanne Corporation? How did such a big scandal suddenly come up?"
He had just taken over the company, and so many problems had already arisen.
Even his brother wanted to mock him at this time. Did they really think his years of hard work were for nothing?
Even if he didn't care much about the company, he wouldn't let anyone laugh at him.
Especially not Michael!
