Chapter 422

Michael couldn't shake the image of Emilio and Isabella tying that red ribbon together, symbolizing their love. It gnawed at him, and jealousy burned in his chest. He shot a cold glare at Emilio's hand reaching for Isabella's and let out a heavy, disdainful snort.

"Guess I walked in at the wrong time. Sorry to bother you praying with your lover."

"Lover?"

Emilio frowned instinctively, but before he could respond, Isabella snapped at Michael.

Naturally, Emilio didn't get to hold her hand.

"Michael, you're the CEO of a major corporation. Have some class. What lover? You better explain yourself."

Isabella was livid.

Michael could say whatever he wanted about her, but dragging her friends into it was crossing the line.

She needed an explanation.

Seeing Emilio's hand drop away made Michael feel a bit better, but Isabella's reaction cut deep.

They weren't even divorced yet, and she was already defending another man?

How much did she care about Emilio?

"Am I wrong? Isabella, we haven't signed the divorce papers yet. You're still my wife. You and him, here, holding hands and making wishes for love-what else could he be but your lover?"

Did they think he was blind?

He had seen everything clearly.

If it weren't for the fact that they were in a church, Emilio might have already kissed Isabella.

"You're talking nonsense."

Every word Michael said hit Isabella right in the heart, especially since it was true.

For a moment, she didn't know whether to explain her relationship with Emilio to Michael or just ignore him.

But then she remembered they were just one step away from finalizing the divorce, and any thought of explaining vanished.

Their marriage was already over. Why should she explain anything to him?

At that moment, Emilio gently took Isabella's wrist, pulling her close and comforting her softly.

"Isabella, I don't mind. Don't let this get to you."

Michael's reputation with the Wilson family was already in tatters.

As long as her five uncles were around, they wouldn't let Isabella have anything to do with Michael.

Emilio still had a chance.

Michael frowned deeply at the sight. What was Emilio up to now?

He had said such harsh things, yet Emilio wasn't angry at all and was even comforting Isabella.

Was Emilio out of his mind?

When did the her uncles start having such poor taste, sending someone like Emilio to be with Isabella?

But then Michael understood.

Isabella, still angry, looked at Michael and said to Emilio, "Emilio, did you hear what he called you? How can you tolerate being called a lover?"

Emilio, who could intimidate the entire company when he was angry, was now so easygoing, not even retaliating when insulted.

This wasn't like him.

But Emilio just smiled, "Isabella, it's not about tolerating it. There's no need to get angry. After all, if Mr. Brown says it, it means he acknowledges my role. Once you two are divorced, I can officially take that place, right?"

As he spoke, Emilio gently smoothed Isabella's wind-tousled hair. His gaze was so tender it could melt anyone. If Isabella accepted him, he didn't mind being called a lover.

"So, Isabella, don't be upset. We came out to relax today. Don't let irrelevant people and things ruin your mood, okay?"

Michael's face darkened. Was Emilio serious? A grown man, acting all innocent and delicate like that-he was practically a shameless flirt.

Seeing Michael's pained expression, Isabella felt a bit better. She looked up at Emilio with a gentle smile, "Alright, since you don't mind, why should I be angry? We're getting divorced anyway. Who cares what he says, right?"

Emilio naturally agreed, "Whatever you say is right."

Watching them gaze at each other lovingly, Michael felt like he was nailed to the spot, tense but unable to do anything. But then Isabella turned her gaze to Michael, raising an eyebrow.

"Mr. Brown, how long are you planning to watch?"

"I heard the Brown Group is having some issues lately. As the CEO, shouldn't you be back at the company managing things? Be careful not to lose business."

Isabella's mockery was deliberate. If she had known she'd run into Michael here, she wouldn't have come. But as long as Michael wasn't in her way, she was happy to continue exploring. Besides, Atticus and Olivia might show up later. If they ran into Michael, who knows what kind of scene would unfold. For the sake of peace, it was best if Michael left quickly.

But her words hit a sore spot for Michael. He gritted his teeth, "Who said I'm leaving? I'm not going anywhere. I'm going to explore every inch of this place!"

Why should Emilio get to stay with her while he had to leave? She's still his wife. Watching his wife be affectionate with another man-if he left, would he still be a man? If he couldn't control the situation, he'd just stick around. He wanted to see if they'd still be so intimate with him watching.

Isabella rolled her eyes, not wanting to deal with him. "Fine, then we'll go our separate ways." She said, pulling Emilio towards the next spot. But before she could take a few steps, she saw Michael following them like a shadow.

Seeing Isabella's glare, he spread his hands, "There are so many sights here. How do you know I'm following you? Besides, we're each doing our own thing. I'm not bothering you."

Isabella was furious but hadn't expected Michael to be so shameless.

"And besides, what if I need you to pay for something? You know my phone's dead. I can't do without you! And what if I get lost and can't find my way back?"

Getting lost? Isabella couldn't believe Michael would say something so childish. A grown man, getting lost in a tourist spot?

Isabella narrowed her eyes, "Michael, even if you're being shameless, there should be a limit. I helped you once, isn't that enough? Do you plan to cling to me forever?"
