Chapter 208
"Grandpa, do you believe me now?"
Isabella pointed to her belly, "From now on, you need to eat well and take care of yourself. You promised to help me take care of the baby, so you can't go back on your word."
"Alright, alright, I will definitely take good care of myself so I can play with my great-grandchild."
Daniel was overjoyed.
Isabella having a child gave him a new lease on life.
Seeing Daniel so happy, the uncles nearby also had more smiles on their faces.
They all came over to tease Daniel about being "biased."
"See, I told you all that Dad only cares about Isabella. No matter what we say, it doesn't matter. As soon as Isabella comes, he eats and feels better."
Kian said with a smile, intentionally stirring the atmosphere.
"Exactly, Dad probably only listens to Isabella now. We are all out of favor."
Holden walked around the sofa and pressed Daniel's shoulder lightly, sighing on purpose as he talked about the brothers' importance.
"Nonsense, who said you are out of favor?"
Daniel pretended to be angry and then snorted, "You never had favor in the first place. Isabella is my favorite."
His words made everyone laugh.
None of the uncles were angry; instead, they felt they hadn't given Isabella enough love to make up for her childhood.
Isabella quietly observed Daniel, feeling a surge of emotions.
Before his serious illness, Daniel didn't look so old. But after two surgeries, he aged significantly in just a few months.
The uncles had told her that Daniel's memory was deteriorating, often repeating old stories.
Sometimes, he would throw tantrums like a child and needed to be coaxed.
At first, she didn't believe it, but everything since she walked in showed that Daniel was indeed getting old.
She shouldn't be so willful anymore.
In the final stretch of his life, she wanted to accompany Daniel and ensure he left without regrets.
Happy times always flew by. After lunch, the uncles had their own matters to attend to and left one by one.
Isabella was reluctant to leave Daniel, but Michael was waiting for her to speak up.
She was pregnant and had nothing to do, but Michael had work.
If she didn't want to reveal the truth to Daniel, she had to leave with Michael in the same car, so Daniel wouldn't suspect anything.
Before she could figure out how to speak up, Daniel spoke first.
"Isabella, wait a moment. I have something to discuss with you and Michael."
After the uncles left, Michael finally sat beside Isabella openly, holding her hand as they approached Daniel.
Both were outstanding in appearance and top talents in their fields. Holding hands, they looked like a perfect match.
Daniel was still worried about their relationship.
If he couldn't see his beloved Isabella in a happy marriage, he wouldn't be at ease.
Thinking of their past conflicts, Daniel sighed.
"Isabella, Michael, now that you have a child, I must remind you of something."
"Being a parent is not just a title; it's a responsibility you must fulfill. You will gradually experience this. I just want to ask, are you really ready for this?"
He was old and wouldn't interfere in the younger generation's affairs anymore.
Even though he knew Michael cared for Isabella, it was up to Michael to make the effort.
He could only help this much.
Daniel didn't address their relationship issues directly but focused on their upcoming roles as parents.
As the heads of their families, Michael and Isabella understood Daniel's underlying message.
Isabella's eyes flashed, and she moved closer to Michael.
She playfully said to Daniel, "Grandpa, you sounded so serious. I thought it was something big. Don't worry, Michael and I have already talked things through. We're just waiting for our baby to be born."
She glanced at Michael, her eyes filled with shyness and obvious love.
No one would doubt that such a loving couple could be broken up already.
Meeting Isabella's loving gaze, Michael was momentarily stunned.
Even though he knew it was fake, his heart couldn't help but race. If only it were real.
Isabella secretly tugged at his clothes, bringing Michael back to reality. He tightly held her hand and spoke softly.
"Grandpa, I will remember your words. But please rest assured, Isabella and I have resolved our misunderstandings and found our way back to each other. We will live a happy life together."
"Take good care of yourself. The baby is waiting to call you great-grandfather."
Michael's words reassured Daniel.
After all, only they knew what was said in the hospital.
Seeing them so sweet together, Daniel felt at ease.
"Good, I look forward to that day. As long as I see you happy, I have no other wishes."
Thinking of holding his great-grandchild soon, Daniel's eyes crinkled with joy.
Seeing this, Isabella secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Fortunately, she brought Michael today; otherwise, she might not have been able to fool Daniel alone.
But she suddenly remembered something else.
She quickly changed the subject, "Grandpa, there are still a few uncles who aren't married. Aren't you worried they'll be jealous if you only care about me?"
Mentioning his five sons, Daniel felt frustrated.
"I want to manage them, but do any of them listen to me? Atticus is serving the country, and I can't even ask about him. Kian and Holden are all smarter than me. Orion and Thomas are obedient but don't take action."
"I have no hope for their marriages."
Daniel waved his hand, "If I don't worry about you, who else can I worry about? I don't want to deal with them at all."
"Grandpa, don't be discouraged."
Seeing Daniel no longer questioning her and Michael, Isabella let go of his hand and sat beside him.
"Grandpa, do you want to see my uncles bring home girlfriends?" Isabella raised an eyebrow and continued, "Then they can have your favorite grandchildren, calling you grandpa every day!"
