Chapter 206
Isabella felt a severe headache just thinking about having to bring Michael home no matter what.
But time wouldn't give her a chance to hesitate; the problem had to be solved.
It was already 7 PM.
She took a deep breath and finally called Michael.
At the same time, Michael was at the Brown Group, he had been spending several days at the company. Now, he was sitting on the sofa with his eyes closed, resting.
The fatigue on his face was visible.
Seeing Isabella's call, for a moment, he wondered if his eyes were playing tricks on him from reading too much.
She had left so heartlessly; how could she possibly call him?
It wasn't until the phone kept ringing that Michael realized it was really Isabella calling.
Michael clenched his fist and quickly answered, "What's up?"
His voice was indifferent, much like his usual business tone.
But he had to ask this way; otherwise, he feared that if he exposed his emotions, Isabella would say something even more despairing.
Only he knew how he had spent these three days.
Apart from endlessly using work to numb himself, he had no other way.
He really, really missed her.
He missed those nights when they slept in each other's arms, missed her passionate responses to him, and even her occasional little tantrums had become incredibly cute in his eyes.
The next second, Isabella's gentle voice interrupted his thoughts. "Sorry to bother you at this time."
Isabella politely stated her purpose, "Tomorrow, I need to visit the Wilson Family to see my grandfather. It's impossible to hide the pregnancy, so I want to ask you to accompany me to this occasion."
Afraid he wouldn't agree, Isabella added, "It won't take too long, just enough to not let my grandfather see through it."
She seemed to understand Nolan's words now.
A few hours ago, she had firmly said that she would never be entangled with Michael again.
But now, she had to ask Michael for help.
She didn't want to speak to Michael so humbly, but thinking of Daniel waiting for her to reconcile with Michael, she had to do it.
"Okay! What time?"
Michael agreed very straightforwardly.
He almost didn't hesitate, which shocked Isabella.
"You agreed?"
She had thought so much, but he didn't even need to consider it?
Michael asked her back, "Do you want me to refuse?"
"No, I just thought you would need time to think about it."
The more Isabella explained, the more guilty she felt.
But Michael saw it very clearly, "No need to think. No matter what happens between us, Your grandpa is always my elder. Besides, I was the one who made this request at the hospital. It's my responsibility to visit Mr. Wilson with you."
This time, it was Isabella who felt embarrassed.
When did Michael become so understanding?
"Ahem, since that's the case, you should know that our visit to the Wilson Family is not just a formality. To avoid arousing my grandfather's suspicion, we need to act like a loving couple in front of him."
After saying this, Isabella was so ashamed that she couldn't lift her head.
They had just decided to separate three days ago, and now they had to act like a loving couple. She couldn't accept it herself.
"Understood! I have no problem with that. But you, don't act too stiff to arouse Mr. Wilson's suspicion. ."
"Nonsense, if you can do it, why can't I?" Isabella retorted without thinking.
Hearing her return to her normal tone, Michael couldn't help but smile. Fortunately, they were on the phone, and Isabella couldn't see the triumphant expression on his face.
But the next second, he couldn't smile anymore.
"Michael, we should make things clear. This time, I need your help and will take up your time. You can name your condition; otherwise, I won't feel at ease."
Michael's heart sank.
She wanted to exchange conditions for his time, not wanting to owe him anything in the future, and to cut off all ties with him.
He knew exactly what she was thinking, which made the pain come unexpectedly.
"You want to buy my time with money?"
Michael sneered, "Isabella, we are of equal status. Why don't you calculate my daily salary as the president of the Brown Group and pay me accordingly?"
Isabella was instantly choked.
The Brown Group's daily net profit was calculated in billions of dollars. How could she pay that?
Could she really afford to lose billions of dollars just to ask him to visit the Wilson Family?
Why should she? He was also the father of the child. She hadn't even asked him for child support, and now he was asking her for money. How was that fair?
"No way, your price is too high. I don't have that much money."
Even if she had, she wouldn't be willing to give it.
Michael had already guessed she would say that and laughed, "Then forget it. I'll help you for free this time."
"No, I don't want to owe you anything."
It wasn't easy to convince him to agree to a peaceful breakup. If he continued to entangle, she feared it would be harder to let go of him.
"Michael, except for the child's custody, I won't object to anything you ask."
Isabella was determined to break off the relationship with him.
"Okay!" Michael was also very straightforward, "I want you!"
He only wanted her.
The child was with her and couldn't run away.
But if she ran away, he really couldn't find her.
"What?"
Isabella was completely stunned. Michael didn't want the child but wanted her?
"Michael, say that again?"
Did she hear it wrong?
"I didn't say anything. You heard wrong."
Being asked about his true thoughts by Isabella, Michael's face couldn't help but change color. He cleared his throat and quickly changed the topic.
"I'll pick you up at 7 AM. It's late, go to sleep."
After saying that, Michael quickly hung up the phone without waiting for her response.
Leaving Isabella, who didn't get an answer, holding the phone in a daze.
She shouldn't have heard wrong. Michael really said that, but his retraction was also true.
Indeed, how could he choose her over the child?
She was overthinking.
Thinking about meeting Daniel early the next morning, Isabella went to bed early.
The next morning, she put on light makeup and changed into a comfortable outfit before going downstairs.
Cinda had already prepared breakfast. Seeing that it was getting late, she sat down and quickly ate a few bites.
Thinking that Daniel and her uncles might ask her to stay for a while, she needed to inform Cinda.
"Cinda, I'm going to visit my grandfather today and might stay there for a while. If I don't come back tonight, consider it a holiday. I'll call you before I return, so you don't have to worry."
"By the way, don't worry about your salary; it will be paid as usual."
