Chapter 429
"I'm not hurt, but what about you? Can you get up?"
Isabella quickly explained her situation to him, but she was more worried about his condition.
Michael's face was pale, clearly from a heavy blow. He needed to get to a hospital immediately.
Her bag was still with Emilio, so the fastest way was for her to help Michael out of there and find Emilio and Atticus. That way, they would be saved.
Michael had gotten hurt saving her; she couldn't just leave him like this.
"Thank god, you're okay. I'm fine; I just want to sleep."
With that, he couldn't hold on any longer and passed out again.
"Michael, don't you dare sleep! Are you planning to leave me here alone?"
Isabella was genuinely scared.
She didn't want to owe Michael another big favor. Their relationship was supposed to end cleanly.
But seeing him like this, Isabella felt a pang in her heart, and tears started streaming down her face uncontrollably.
"Michael, wake up. Please don't scare me."
When Emilio and Atticus arrived, they saw Isabella holding Michael's head, her eyes red from crying.
"Isabella, are you okay?"
Atticus's first concern was Isabella's condition. He saw Michael too, but with Emilio there, he didn't say much.
"Uncle Atticus, you're finally here. I'm fine, but please help him. He's badly hurt."
Isabella's voice trembled as she held Michael tightly, afraid he might never wake up.
Even though she usually acted cold and indifferent towards Michael, seeing him hurt revealed her true feelings.
She still cared about him.
This scene hit Emilio hard.
It was clear that in Isabella's heart, the one she loved the most was still Michael.
If that was the case, did Emilio even have a place in her heart?
Atticus, after making a phone call, turned to Emilio, who was standing there in shock. "Emilio, take Isabella to the hospital for a check-up. I'll handle Michael. The Wilson Family will be here soon."
When it happened, he had been with Olivia, sharing an intimate moment, until Isabella's scream interrupted them.
Then he got Emilio's call, saying Isabella had fallen down the hill.
It all happened so suddenly that he didn't even know how Michael had shown up there so quickly to protect Isabella.
"No!"
Hearing that she had to leave Michael, Isabella instinctively refused, holding him even tighter.
"I'm not leaving. Michael got hurt because of me. I'm not going anywhere until he wakes up."
She had questions for him when he woke up.
She wanted to know why Michael was there and why he rushed to save her the moment she was in danger.
He hadn't mentioned divorce for a while. Did he finally realize he had feelings for her?
If that was true, then maybe her years of hope and dreams weren't in vain.
"Isabella!"
Atticus's stern voice quickly quieted her down.
"Stop being stubborn. Go with Emilio now. I'll make sure Michael gets to the hospital and is taken care of. He'll be fine, trust me."
Although Atticus had his issues with Michael, he wasn't unreasonable.
Michael had gotten hurt saving Isabella, so Atticus would ensure he got to the hospital safely.
As time ticked by, Atticus didn't give Isabella a chance to refuse. He helped her up and handed her to Emilio.
"You take her and go."
Just then, Olivia arrived, a bit late. Seeing Isabella hurt, she was about to speak but noticed Michael's severe injuries.
She was stunned and didn't know what to say.
Atticus saw her too and gently advised, "Don't stay here. Isabella's hurt. Go with her to the hospital."
Seeing Isabella's dazed state, Olivia swallowed her questions and nodded obediently. "Okay, you be careful too."
She and Emilio helped Isabella out. "Isabella, let's go to the hospital, okay?"
Isabella didn't speak until they reached the foot of the hill and got into the car. "I don't want to go to the hospital. I'm really fine. Take me to Michael. I want to know how he's doing."
If he was in so much pain that he passed out, his injuries must be severe.
Emilio fell silent.
Olivia, noticing Isabella's concern for Michael, sighed and gently persuaded, "Isabella, I know you're worried about Michael, but you're hurt too."
"You might feel fine now, but you need a check-up to be sure. And if you want to see Michael, Atticus will take him to the hospital first."
Olivia's last sentence made Isabella realize.
Right, Atticus would take Michael to the hospital. If she wanted to see him, she had to go to the same hospital.
"Okay, I'll go to the hospital."
Isabella agreed calmly.
Olivia apologized to Emilio and asked him to drive them to the nearest hospital.
Emilio looked at Isabella deeply and sighed with relief. "Of course. I'll feel better once she's checked out."
His voice was full of concern and affection.
Olivia glanced at Isabella, who was still preoccupied with thoughts of Michael, and could only sigh.
What kind of spell were they under?
Isabella and Olivia had both held on to their love for their men for over a decade, refusing to move on.
She had seen it clearly. When Emilio heard Isabella had fallen, his face changed with worry. After calling Atticus, he risked his safety to find her.
He was the first to find Isabella.
If it weren't for Emilio, who knows how long it would have taken them?
Yet, despite Emilio being a perfect man deeply in love with Isabella, she only saw him as a good friend.
Was it some kind of curse that once they fell in love, they couldn't love anyone else?
On the way to the hospital, Isabella's emotions gradually calmed down.
She held Olivia's hand and softly said, "I'm sorry. I got too emotional and made you all worry."
Earlier, when she insisted on going to Michael, she noticed Emilio's face had changed.
But she hadn't thought much about it then. Now she realized she must have hurt his feelings.
"We don't mind worrying about you. As long as you're safe, that's all that matters."
