Chapter 324

Isabella watched the scene unfold, feeling like she was looking at a reflection of her past self.

Back then, she had also decided to give up on Michael, swearing to herself that she would never look back.

But these could fool others, not herself.

When you cared about someone, it was not something you could just cut off with a single sentence.

However, she knew better than to get involved. Matters of the heart were complicated, and even if an outsider saw through it, they couldn't just spell it out.

They needed to figure it out on their own, step by step.

But, would it really snow today?

An hour later, the sky darkened, and a strong wind picked up, soon bringing heavy snow.

Isabella blinked in surprise. The weather forecast had been spot on.

She wondered if Aaron was still standing at the door.

Walking to the courtyard and looking towards the gate, Isabella saw the black car still parked there, with Aaron standing rigidly beside it.

The car was right there, but he showed no intention of getting inside to wait.

Isabella admired this about him.

To see Renee, he was showing his sincerity.

And over the past few years, Aaron had been working for Michael, and she hadn't heard of him having a girlfriend.

For him to go to such lengths for Renee, it seemed like he was genuinely in love.

Suddenly, Isabella saw Aaron sway.

She had a servant bring a tablet to check the surveillance at the gate. Aaron, dressed in a thin suit, was already turning blue from the cold.

His hands were clenched tightly, clearly suffering from the biting wind.

If this continued, he would surely get sick.

Just then, Daniel, having heard about the situation outside, came over with the help of a servant and saw Aaron on the tablet.

He immediately exclaimed, "Isabella, isn't that Michael's assistant Aaron? You should ask Renee to reconsider. No matter how much they argue, she can't leave Aaron out in the cold like this. If he really gets sick, it won't be a small matter."

Isabella thought the same. Who would have thought Aaron would actually wait outside for so long?

If Aaron got frostbite at the Wilson Family's place, she would be responsible, and she wouldn't be able to explain it to Michael.

But Aaron was here to see Renee, and if Renee didn't agree, she couldn't just let Aaron in secretly.

At that moment, Aaron suddenly dropped to his knees outside the gate.

He shouted towards the door, "Renee, I know you're in there. Please, let me see you."

Aaron used all his strength.

But the Wilson Family's house was equipped with the highest level of soundproofing technology by Atticus, so Renee inside couldn't hear him at all.

However, Isabella and Daniel heard him clearly in the courtyard.

Seeing Aaron's desperate plea on the tablet, Isabella couldn't help but feel soft-hearted.

Thinking about how Aaron had helped her many times while working for Michael, she decided to repay the favor.

Isabella came up with a plan to have a servant secretly open the gate, letting Aaron in and pretending not to know.

But before she could execute her plan, a calm and gentle voice came from the hall.

"Isabella, let him in. He won't give up otherwise."

Isabella was stunned and turned around to see Renee, now sitting in a wheelchair, being pushed out by a servant.

She had heard Aaron's shout.

"Renee, are you really willing to see him?"

Isabella felt a mix of guilt and relief. If she had spoken up, it would have been truly awkward to be caught by Renee.

Renee sighed, looking at Isabella with a guilty expression. "He's Michael's man. If something happens to him here, how would you explain it to Mr. Brown?"

She already felt like a burden to Isabella by staying at the Wilson Family's place and didn't want to add more responsibility.

Her words were innocent, but Daniel couldn't help but frown.

Renee and Aaron arguing was one thing, but why were Isabella and Michael being so formal with each other?

They were husband and wife!

No matter what, Michael wouldn't blame Isabella. Why would she need to explain? Aaron was just an assistant anyway.

It seemed a bit odd.

Isabella was startled and quickly gave Renee a look, hurriedly saying, "I don't need to explain anything to Michael. He should be grateful he's not here to coax me. Renee, if you want to see Aaron, I'll let him in right now."

With that, Isabella quickly instructed the servant to call Aaron in and helped Daniel to the hall.

She was afraid Aaron might say something wrong and arouse Daniel's suspicion.

Twenty minutes later, Aaron, having changed into the clothes the servant brought, followed the directions to Renee's room.

He took a deep breath, thinking about how to explain his sudden trip abroad and his recent disappearance.

Inside, he heard the voice he missed the most, "Come in."

Aaron's heart tightened. He gripped the handle and realized the door was ajar. With a gentle push, it opened.

In the elegantly decorated room, Renee sat in a wheelchair, wearing a white loungewear set with a gray blanket over her legs.

Seeing him enter, she slowly wheeled herself from the window.

Even in her worst state, she didn't want him to see her lying in bed, looking lifeless.

"Aaron, you came after all."

Renee's voice was calm, but the confidence and brightness in her eyes were gone.

Aaron felt a sharp pain in his chest, making it hard to breathe.

In just ten days, she had lost so much weight.

Michael had sent him her medical report: head injury, broken right leg, multiple abrasions.

But those were just words on a paper. Seeing her in person, he couldn't forgive himself.

Why did he leave her at that time?

Why did he go abroad when she needed him the most, leaving her alone?

"Renee, I..." Aaron choked up, unable to speak.

He had betrayed her trust.

Abroad, to avoid exposure, he used a fake identity Michael arranged and had a new phone.

When he returned and got his phone back, he saw three missed calls from her, and it felt like a lightning strike.

Each call was a cry for help, but he hadn't responded.

He took a deep breath, walked to Renee, and knelt down, his eyes red as he held her hand.

"Renee, I'm sorry I'm late!"

Renee instinctively turned her face away. She didn't want him to see her vulnerability or drag him into her troubles again.

"It's not your fault. No one could have predicted this... But Aaron, let's break up."
