Chapter 487

"Isabella, I get what you're saying, but you really need to take this pendant today. Look, no one knows what the future holds. If you and Michael stay together, then this pendant is yours. If not, just think of it as a keepsake from Aiden."

Stella didn't give Isabella a chance to refuse and quickly fastened the pendant around her neck.

Isabella frowned and was about to take it off when Stella's next words stopped her.

"Isabella, you can say no to me, but can you really ignore your grandpa's last wish?"

Isabella couldn't bring herself to meet Aiden's hopeful gaze.

The refusal she was about to voice got swallowed back down.

Seeing Aiden like this, how could she bear to let him down?

She bit her lip and finally agreed to keep the pendant.

"Thanks, Aiden."

As she spoke, Isabella lifted the modest pendant around her neck to show Aiden.

She thought, once her grandpa's health improved, she could return it. For now, she couldn't let him be sad in the hospital.

Seeing Isabella finally accept the pendant that symbolized the future daughter-in-law of the Brown Family, Aiden's eyes lit up.

He squeezed her hand and softly called her name, then looked at Michael, who was standing nearby, hesitant to approach, and called his name too.

"Come here."

Michael didn't dare disobey and stepped forward to the bedside.

Stella, sensing the moment, quickly stepped aside.

Michael knelt beside Isabella, both of them by Aiden's side. "Grandpa, Isabella and I are both here. What do you want to say? We're listening."

Aiden didn't speak, just pulled Michael's hand to cover Isabella's, patting them gently.

With a weak voice, Aiden managed to say, "You two... must... be... happy..."

Isabella's eyes welled up again.

How could she not understand her grandpa's wish?

From the moment she married into the Brown Family, Aiden had hoped she and Michael could live harmoniously like a normal couple. Every time she and Michael had a disagreement, her grandpa would always support her.

But she and Michael had already reached the point of divorce; going back to the way things were was impossible.

Yet, at this moment, she couldn't say anything that would break Aiden's heart.

Isabella's soft hand was in his, and Michael couldn't help but look up at her, feeling a mix of emotions.

He knew his grandpa always wanted them to reconcile and return to how they were at the beginning.

But after everything that had happened, he seemed to understand what Isabella truly wanted.

If she didn't want to, he wouldn't force her like before.

Perhaps only at this moment could he hold her hand openly without her rejecting or resenting him.

"Grandpa, no matter what happens between Isabella and me, she will always be your granddaughter and a part of the Brown Family. As long as I'm here, I won't let anyone hurt her."

Michael had truly come to terms with it.

Loving someone meant respecting their choices. If Isabella was willing to give him another chance, he would show her his true feelings without hesitation.

He would make up for all the pain and grievances she had endured over the years.

But if she wanted him to stay away and never see him again, he would respect that too.

Isabella was stunned.

She couldn't believe these words were coming from Michael.

Was this really the same arrogant Michael she knew?

Just then, the sound of a wheelchair rolling down the hallway echoed. Nolan, having rushed over from the company upon hearing about Aiden's hospitalization, arrived.

But when he reached the door, the scene inside the room pierced his heart.

By Aiden's bedside, Michael and Isabella were holding hands, making promises to Aiden, looking every bit like a loving couple.

What hurt Nolan even more was the pendant around Isabella's neck.

That pendant symbolized the future matriarch of the Brown Family, something even Michael's mother never received, and now it hung around Isabella's neck.

So, Isabella had forgiven Michael and accepted her role as "Mrs. Brown" again!

Realizing this, Nolan trembled with anger.

He stared at the scene with furious eyes.

Why?

Why could she so easily forgive Michael but not accept his love and pursuit?

If she reconciled with Michael, what about him?

What did he mean to her?

He had been by her side for so many years, loved her for so many years, and in the end, his confession and affection meant nothing to her?

Nolan's hands gripped the wheelchair tightly, his anger and overwhelming hatred nearly consuming his rationality.

He almost forgot why he had come here because of the "warm" scene before him.

Alex, standing nearby, coughed lightly to remind Nolan of his current status as the CEO of the Brown Group.

With Aiden gravely ill, Nolan's priority should be to show the concern and worry of a grandson, not to let a woman make him forget everything he had worked so hard to achieve.

"Mr. Aiden Brown, Mrs. Brown, Mr. Nolan Brown is here."

Alex's announcement brought Nolan back to reality.

Nolan suppressed his inappropriate emotions, waved Alex away, and wheeled himself into the room, approaching Aiden.

"Grandpa, I'm here. I'm sorry I didn't manage the company well and caused you such distress."

As he spoke, Nolan lowered his head slowly.

His voice was full of guilt and concern, making it hard for anyone to blame him further.

His concern might have been feigned, but his guilt was real.

On the way to the hospital, Nolan had learned from Alex that his grandfather had fainted after seeing negative news about the company that morning.

As the person in charge, he couldn't escape responsibility.

This was his fault.

Isabella glanced at Nolan briefly before quickly looking away.

With her grandfather still in bed, she didn't want to think about anything related to Nolan, nor did she want to speak to him.

She had seen Aiden, and given her current status, it was no longer appropriate for her to stay.

Isabella pulled her hand away from Michael's grasp, made an excuse, and left the room.
